The Helmholtz Centre Berlin for Materials and Energy is a scientific research centre. It specializes in the investigation of the structures of solid matter and materials, as well as new materials and manufacturing techniques for photovoltaic cells. The work extends from basic research through to practical applications. A research reactor and an accelerator are available, and this large-scale equipment can also be used by guests.

  • Retos definidos:

     Eficiencia energética: desarrollar, optimizar y/o implementar tecnologías relacionadas con eficiencia energética en la industria, ofreciendo soluciones al mercado que disminuyan el consumo de energía, incrementen la productividad de los procesos, reduzcan las emisiones contaminantes y mejoren las condiciones de salud ocupacional.

    Combustible líquido: desarrollar y caracterizar un combustible alternativo, que posea propiedades fisicoquímicas similares a las de los combustibles líquidos fósiles convencionales y que sea costo-efectivo.

    Combustible gaseoso: desarrollar y caracterizar un combustible gaseoso, que eventualmente pueda sustituir el gas natural, para la generación de electricidad y para el transporte.

    Solar fotovoltaica: desarrollar superficies fotovoltaicas de película delgada, utilizando tecnologías superiores a las de primera generación, que sean flexibles y costo-efectivas.
